Acts 16:31 says: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
A Christian isn't someone who just believes that Jesus died for your sins, and that's it..... If you know with the knowledge, that Jesus is the Son of God and that's it..that's not all.....In Mark 1:15 Jesus came saying: Repent and believe in the Gospel... To repent means: a change of mind...this is to say that you have a desire to turn from your old ways and turn to the ways of God... and to believe in the Gospel, the Gospel is that the Lord Jesus was:
1st. Born of a virgin named Mary with no human father, this is called the immaculate conceiption...
2nd. That Jesus lived a sinless life (never sinned)
3rd. That the Lord Jesus was at the same time fully God and fully Man.
4th. Died for your sins
5th. raised from the dead on the 3rd. day..
6th. Now sits on the right hand of God the Father in Heaven.
That is what it means to be saved.... To repent of your sins and to believe in the gospel...
